October Mist 1495
Remember when Taylor Swift hit us all with a giant burst of coziness when she released Folklore? Remember when she doubled up the cozy with Evermore? Benjamin Moore’s October Mist 1495 feels like the color of strolling down a cobblestone street in New England, of visiting your meemaw in her 1910 cottage full of antiques and memories or sitting in a wingback chair with an Earl Gray latte and your favorite book; the one with the wilted page edges and cracks along the spine, weathered from love.

Benjamin Moore says this “gently shaded sage quietly anchors a space, while encouraging individual expression through color.” It is meant to provide a quiet yet comforting backdrop for the other selected 14 colors in the Color Trends 2022 palette which is “harmonious yet diverse, reliable yet whimsical and meditative yet eclectic,” and illustrates the many combinations, expressions and design styles these 14 colors can create.
“As the spaces in our homes continue to evolve, we uncover more opportunities to express our individuality and leverage the power of color to design environments that serve different functions and styles,” said Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moore Director of Color Marketing & Development. “October Mist 1495 and the corresponding Color Trends 2022 palette reflects an effortless harmony of colors, while inspiring unique combinations for any paint project.” The palette includes:

When reflecting on which one color out of 3,500 could possibly represent the current zeitgeist, one idea blossomed above the others: “People are looking for a means of self-expression. There’s this craving for individuality.” What hue best reflected, even encouraged, that newfound need? October Mist 1495, a soft, likable sage green that could act as a bridge to a rainbow of colors.
“One of the team members did a floral study,” Magno recalls. “That green stem of the flower becomes this connector—this enabler, almost. It’s able to bring together all these other colors.”
What do you think of their choice? Does it reflect the overall feelings of the current climate? Do you see yourself using it or any of the other colors in the palette in your home? Let us know all your thoughts in the comments below!
