We are so excited to announce winning 2016 Industry Partner 1st place at the ASID Ruby Awards for Best Use of Original Design. This is our 5th time win!!!

OUR HISTORY – Like so many companies in the 60’s, we started out of a garage. Bob Havran had a dream of building products that designers were craving but couldn’t find in stores. Word spread quickly of his skills and his clients kept coming back for the quality craftsmanship incorporated into each piece and the attention to detail he became known for. He soon took his two sons under his apprenticeship and in the 80’s Bob passed the business to them. Bobby and Dennis continued the traditions established by their dad, of caring for the clients and focusing on the details, and as their business thrived moved their team to a new facility in Bellaire. In 2015 we moved again to a 9000 sf facility, with some of Bob’s original team. We are still a family owned and operated business, with April Carter at the helm, honoring our 30 year old traditions of using premium quality materials combined with top rate workmanship to build your next favorite piece of furniture.

APRIL CARTER – President

Success will never obscure April’s personal philosophy of always puts people first. A native Houstonian, she loves to see happy people, relaxing or entertaining their guests in comfort and style. That’s why she chooses to build incredibly comfortable furniture.
April found joy in making people happy when she was a volunteer with her church youth group helping those less fortunate than herself. A born entrepreneur, she followed her passion for contributing to something greater than herself and at the age of 17 began working as a manager at the Eastwood Health Clinic. Helping them by writing grants and managing their facility, she was able to stayed connected to the community she loved and grew up in. She acquired CSF in 2011 which has provided a vehicle for her to align her strengths, skills and values. Her resilience, adaptability and managerial expertise have helped her to develop a strong team and build her high ranking brand to create an Award Winning Company. April has been dubbed “The Confetti Queen” which aligns with her positive infectious joy at celebrating life. Thankful for the opportunities she has been given while counting her blessings; she lives in Katy with her four children, and seizes every opportunity to live, laugh and love with them.

MARYANN LUCARELLI – Sales and Marketing

Maryann brings skills from her many experiences of creative business growth and management to the CSF team. With a degree in Interior Design and Fine Art she has worked as a designer in NYC and Arizona before she followed her heart to Scotland. In the late 80’s she opened her own company, Creative Commercial Design. As one of the top three firms in Scotland, specializing in commercial interiors, she led her team of 8 to help create the largest open plan office space in Europe by providing design and purchasing expertise to her client. Maryann was a founding member of the Association of Facilities Management (AFM) Scottish Chapter, and was contracted with many international companies. Back in the States for the past 20 years, she has continued to work in the furniture and design industry selling product and services as well as helping companies find new ways to grow their businesses and raise awareness of their brand. Maryann lives in Montrose where she keeps an art studio to create jewelry. Her greatest joy comes from spending time with her two daughters.

ROBERT COLLEY – Workroom Manager
Every team needs a strong right arm, someone that knows how to do just about anything, and does it with heart. Robert is that guy and brings tons of talent and positive energy to our group. He was born in the furniture capital of America – North Carolina and followed in his father’s path. At the age of 21 he started his career with the Lazy Boy Company in the fabrics division. His desire to excel and combined with his aptitude brought him to the attention of management and he was soon learning the skills of an upholsterer. Surrounded by talented seasoned craftsmen he honed his skills and branched out to learn furniture repairing and finishing, then moved on to hold management positions with furniture giants Broyhill and later McCreary Modern. Robert knows how to make furniture fit and feel the way you like, and understands how to build it like that.
While visiting a friend in Conroe Robert met Kelly, who would become his bride, and as the saying goes got to Texas a quick as he could. Together they live there with their two daughters. He likes to tinker with old cars and watch football but his biggest joy is spending time with his family.

DENNIS HAVRAN – Cutting and Sewing Manager

To achieve greatness in your craft you must spend countless hours learning the nuances of your subject before you can perform the craft with skill and dexterity. Dennis began at his father’s side when he was 13 years old, gleaning the skills that can only be learned by doing, and perfected by putting your heart and hands into your work. For Dennis upholstery is an Art Form, and he approaches his cutting table with a view to creating a masterpiece.
He loves planning out projects with designers and sharing his artistic expertise in furniture scale and proportion to ensure their vision will have the desired comfort level as well as capture the design style they are aiming for. Just as every piece of furniture has unique shape and style; the fabrics used to cover them have qualities that can only be learned by handling them. Understanding the stretch, the grain and nap of fabrics allows a craftsman to use them to benefit the quality of the end product. Estimating yardage and Fabric placement plays a vital role to ensure pattern and grain matching.
Dennis lives in Katy with his wife Elsa and their two dogs. They have two grown sons that live nearby, and enjoy spending time with them.
