Lately we’ve been hugely inspired by the color orange and all the emotions, senses and memories it evokes. Orange is an extremely versatile color that we think more people should be emboldened to use in their designs. It’s bright, energetic, warm and expresses feelings of abundance. Vivid shades of orange have the capacity to feel loud and vivacious, while softer shades are comforting and calming. Let’s take a deeper dive into the psychology of color and it’s affect on interior design and hopefully give you some design inspiration along the way.
What Is Color Psychology?
Color Psychology is the theory and study of how colors affect our mood, cognitive functions, creativity, and productivity and behaviors. It studies the effects different color hues have on the human brain. Even though in general blues make us feel calm and oranges make us feel energetic, studies show that each individual responds differently to color schemes and things such as cultural differences and personal preferences impact the ways in which color affects us. How To Use Orange In Interior Design?
Orange interiors are fun, whimsical and exciting and can be used in both bold and subdued spaces. For example, natural and neutral shades of orange such as peach or terracotta create a calming effect or you can choose a bold patterned orange fabric to create a striking sofa centerpiece in a room. Orange can be used freely all over or in moderation as accents. Color is subjective, and like we mentioned above people will have different responses based on culture and personal preference, but if it’s your signature color then we are all for it!
