MADE IN TEXAS
All of our products are handmade in our combined 18,000 square foot workroom/showrooms conveniently located in the heart of the design district in Houston, Texas. With a combination of vintage and state-of-the-art equipment, we continue to revise and improve our products to keep pace with the industry's demands for quality products, fair pricing and durability. We offer pick-up and delivery services throughout the state of Texas and beyond.
PRODUCT CONSTRUCTION
For new and upholstered items our base price includes the following construction techniques and materials:
FRAMES
New furniture frames are constructed using American Poplar kiln dried hardwood that meets or exceeds the NHLA standards for FAS lumber. Frames are built using traditional woodworking techniques which include mortise and tenon and corner blocking for structural integrity as well as a sinuous coil foundation.
CUSHIONS
Our cushions are made to order using top quality materials. We choose CertiPUR-US Foam with a dacron wrap for long lasting durability and comfort. You may choose to upgrade your furniture to include 4-way or 8-way Hand Tied Springs to improve your cushion support or upgrading to a shredded dacron (a synthetic blend with a down-like feel) or add a down blend option to add softness to seats and backs. Our down blend is a 25/75 mix of down feathers.
MATERIALS
Sinuous Coil Springs
Sinuous coil springs are made from two-dimensional s-shaped wires and take the place of coil springs. They are fastened to the furniture frame with clips and no-sag nails and spaced every few inches apart. Sinuous coil springs are commonly used in ottomans as well as the seats and backs of chairs and sofas.
4-Way Hand Tied Springs
Four-way hand tied springs offer a wider range of movement than S-Springs and provide even more customization. During construction the craftsman individually ties heavy-gauge coils from front to back and side to side (four ways) to provide the highest level of quality, comfort and durability. This process is time consuming and can only be done by hand. Please expect an additional cost.
8-Way Hand Tied Springs
Eight-way hand tied springs are three-dimensional steel coils attached to the webbing on the bottom of sofas or chairs. These springs are hand tensioned with twine at the top of the coils to prevent them from shifting, giving upholstered furniture an even comfort level and the added advantage of never losing shape. During construction the craftsman individually ties heavy-gauge coils from front to back, side to side and diagonally (eight ways) to provide the highest quality, comfort and durability. This process is time consuming and can only be done by hand. Please expect an additional cost.
Shredded Dacron
Shredded Dacron is a hypoallergenic, polyester fiber, down alternative ranging from soft and down-like to firm and substantial. This is the preferred choice for building supremely comfortable furniture for persons with allergens.
FEATHER
The two-dimensional structure and slight curl of feathers make them ideal for use in everything from bedding to cushions and provide naturally soft support. We use smaller feathers (5 cm or less) along with a blend of down to deliver the best structure and feel for our products.
DOWN
Down is three-dimensional and made up of a cluster of fibers stemming from a central point, making it light and fluffy yet incredibly warm. In one ounce of down there are over two million filaments, which provides more warmth per ounce than any other synthetic material. We use a blend of 25% down and 75% feathers to create the ultimate luxury, comfort and performance in our products.
FOAM
We choose American-made CertiPUR-US foam for all of our products because it meets CertiPUR-US standards for content, emissions and durability. It has been analyzed by independent, accredited laboratories and is made without ozone depleters, heavy metals and has low VOCs, a major component of air pollution. CertiPUR-US foam can be expected to give you continual comfort for 3-5 years depending on usage. You can extend the life of your cushions simply by fluffing and rearranging the cushions regularly.
DACRON
Blended polyester batting, commonly referred to as Dacron, is used for cushion wrapping, padding wooden furniture frames and adding softness to panels, headboards and cornices. Dacron is used anywhere a smooth finish is required.
